Ossabaw Island encompasses 9,000 acres of maritime forest, meadows and wetlands, 17,000 acres of salt marshes and 13 miles of pristine dune-lined beaches. The island boasts the most productive marine estuarine zone on the eastern seaboard and provides habitat for many endangered and protected species.
The island is home to a variety of native and imported species including birds, pigs and donkeys and provides vitally important nesting ground for endangered loggerhead sea turtles.
